the flexion/extension x-ray taken 12/12/09, clearly demonstrating that my options were limited to (1) pain; or (2) spine fusion. you can see where there are cracks (spondylolysis) and where the vertebrae shifted (spondylolisthesis) and no longer line up the way a healthy spine would

this is a comparison (though likely not "apples to apples" since i did it myself) of my 4/28/07 and 11/9/09 MRIs. only L5-S1 is labeled, but you can see that the L4-L5 disc is also degenerated by the fact that those are the 2 discs that lack color

taken after the anterior portion of my surgery on 1/26/10. the discs at L4-L5 and L5-S1 were removed and replaced with titanium cages, in which bone morphogenic protein was then inserted in order to grow the bone for the fusion

my favorite of the images, taken after the posterior portion of the surgery on 1/26/10, showing the titanium rods and screws, as well as the titanium cages that replaced the discs at L4-L5 and L5-S1. this one clearly and unquestionably demonstrates that i am, in fact, BIONIC ;)
